About the Artist
My journey as an artist has been anything but linear, although I have always been rooted in creativity. After studying art education at Kent State University in the 90s, I devoted my career to teaching elementary art. I poured my energy into nurturing the creativity of my students while raising my family. For many years, my own studio practice sat quietly in the background, patiently waiting for its turn.
In 2022, with my children grown, I decided it was time to return to my paints- not as a teacher, but as a maker. Rekindling my passion, I immersed myself in classes and experimentation, rediscovering the sheer joy of color, movement, and play.
My work is inspired by the simple delights that make life vibrant: flowers in full bloom, the soulful character of animals, the excitement of travel, and the serenity of nature. My style of contemporary impressionism thrives on optical blending- laying bold, pure strokes of color side by side rather than mixing them on the palette. This technique creates a shimmering, light-filled effect, inviting the viewer’s eye to do the blending and experience the magic of color firsthand.
With loose brushstrokes and a fearless use of hue, my paintings celebrate joy, energy, and connection. Each canvas is a reminder that art, like life, is most alive when it’s full of color.
